Gehu is like the bass of the Huqin family. Construction of a Gehu is different from Huqin family, but with a larger python skin and resonator. The way of playing a Gehu is the same as the Double Bass. The strings are also tuned as same as Double Bass.

Gehus produce a deep and mellow tone, similar to that of a Double Bass but more expressive. It produces good sound effect in the ensemble of a chinese orchestra.
