This is a Beijing Pipa by Master Qiu made of Black Rosewood.

Black Rosewood is a kind of rosewood that is presumably very good quality.

I have no idea why they coined it 'black' rosewood but the wood sure looks beautiful.

The tone produced is excellent - resonant, warm and articulate. The tips of the frets are inlaid with bone to give it an added clarity. It feels very responsive as well.

This is one really good pipa if you are looking for something exceptional.

It comes with a semi-hard case, 2 pc instructional VCD, pipa nails, extra set of strings, plaster and a tone generator.
