Xiao Ruan is the second smallest instrument in the Ruan family.

Xiao is Chinese for 'small'. The pitch of the instrument is higher than the Zhongruan but lower than the high pitched Ruan. It sounds a little like the mandolin. (Check out the video link below)

This Xiao Ruan is made of rosewood and the frets are made of bone. The instrument is made by Shanghai Dunhuang Musical Instruments Co., Ltd.
