Zhonghu is like the alto of the Huqin family. Construction of a Zhonghu is similar to Erhu, but with a larger neck and resonator. The strings are tuned a fifth lower than the Erhu.
Zhonghus produces a deep and mellow tone, similar to that of a Viola but more expressive.
This is a professional grade aged Rosewood Zhonghu by Wan Qi Xing from Suzhou. Wan Qi Xing makes good Erhus as well as Zhonghus and Gaohus.
Construction and craftsmanship is solid and notes are responsive. This is a favourite among orchestras in Singapore.
