Zhonghu is like the alto of the Huqin family. Construction of a Zhonghu is similar to Erhu, but with a larger neck and resonator. The strings are tuned a fifth lower than the Erhu.
Zhonghu produces a deep and mellow tone, similar to that of a Viola but more expressive.
This is a Zhonghu by Shanghai Dunhuang 'Yun' Brand made of Thai Rosewood. The construction of the instrument is excellent and the tone is produced is mellow and sweet.
A good value for money Zhonghu and very popular among orchestras.
Shanghai Dunhuang Musical Instruments Co., Ltd is the largest and most established Chinese Musical Instruments Factory in China.
