Zhonghu is like the alto of the Huqin family. Construction of a Zhonghu is similar to Erhu, but with a larger neck and resonator. The strings are tuned a fifth lower than the Erhu.
Zhonghus produces a deep and mellow tone, similar to that of a Viola but more expressive.
One of YKM’s excellent batches of zhonghus, this one made from high quality aged rosewood will surely serve performers well. The intrinsic qualities of this zhonghu are the warm and mellow timbre (especially in the lower registers), sonorous sound and the undisrupted tone colour in the high registers.
Construction and craftsmanship is solid and notes are responsive. This is a favourite among orchestras in Singapore.
